The Bridge on Starships such as the Uss Enterprise is located on deck one at the top of the primary hull. This is the command center for all Starship operations including communications, science officer, engineering, defence navigation, and command intelligence. Each section or monitor on the bridge is responsible for the operation and maintenance of that department.

On Stardate 4202.9 the Federation Starship USS Enterprise responded to a distress call in a nearby system and discovered a super weapon capable of destroying entire planets .. later referred to as the the Doomsday machine. The origins of this super weapon are unknown, however based on its apparent trajectory it was believed to have come from outside our galaxy.

The Hangar deck on the Uss Enterprise is located in the engineering hull. Also referred to as the Shuttlebay .. this facility is used for launch support and recovery operations. The Shuttlebay also includes an upper observation corridor and a control room. Supervised by the flight deck officer, this control room is used for all auxiliary Shuttlecraft operations.

The K7 through K11 series of space stations ware located within Federation space and commissioned by Starfleet to replace the ageing series of K1 deep space stations. Designed as interstellar trading posts, each station could handle larger cargo ships shuttle craft and increased trade with other species. The design of these stations also allowed for better docking facilities, and recreation areas.

The design of the K12 series of space stations allowed Starfleet engineers to take advantage of the latest developments, and advances in Federation technology. These stations were more advanced than earlier K1 and K7 outposts, and ware deployed not only as interstellar trading ports but also as science research platforms for all members of the Federation.

Designed by Dr Richard Daystrom, and tested aboard the Uss Enterprise NCC-1701 on 2268, the M5 multitronic computer was the most ambitious operating system of its time. The M5 was designed to control every aspect of a ships operation. However the computer failed to perform due to the use of Daystroms own neural engrams within the system.

Created by the scientist Jackson Roykirk. Nomad was an early interstellar robotic probe, launched from Earth in 2002, on a mission to search out new life forms. The probe was presumed destroyed by a meteor collision. In fact Nomad collided with an alien space probe called Tan Ru, and repaired itself merging its program with the alien probe.

Starfleet Personal Shuttles are attached to Galaxy class Starships such as the Uss Enterprise-D and are equipped with short range warp drive technology. These shuttles are designed with emergency escape transporters, similar to the energy matter transporters used on Federation Starships, that allow Starfleet personnel to evacuate in case of disaster.

Phasers. Acronym for phaSed energy rectification. Ship mounted Phaser weapons often called Phaser banks are standard equipment aboard Starfleet vessels. By the yesr 2363 the effective tactical range of shipboard Phaser banks were about 300,000 kilometers, in one light second. Also ships Phasers could be reconfigured to brill into planetary surfaces.

Photon torpedoes. Constitution class Starships such as the Uss Lexington have two banks of Photon torpedoes. These are located at the top of the primary hull, and are used as tactical weapons. Photon torpedoes are self propelled missiles, that contain small amounts of matter and antimatter, that are held together within a strong magnetic field.

A shuttle craft is a short range transportation vehicle used by Starships such as the Uss Enterprise and the Uss Hood to transport Federation crew and cargo. A variety of Shuttlecraft types have been used aboard different Starships over the years. This type of Shuttle is capable of sub light travel only and is designed for planetary landing and takeoff.

Starfleet Spacedocks are large scale stations orbiting the Earth. Setup for servicing space craft, and Starships, such as the Uss Excelsior, undergoing tests for its new experimental transwarp drive in 2285. Spacedocks are designed to provide facilities and technical support, not only for Starfleet, but for all members of the United Federation of Planets.

Talosian .. This is a physically weak humanoid race from the planet Talos IV. A class M planet in the Talos star group. After several thousand years the Talosians developed telepathic powers. This race could also project ultra realistic images over reality and required slave labor to service their systems. In 2255 the Federation banned all entry to the Talos sector for fear of others gaining the Talosian's powers.

A travel Pod is a short range Shuttle craft used by Starfleet personnel. This type of craft is normally used for the inspection of Starships and other vehicles at starfleet orbital drydock facilities on Earth, or at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars. Outfitted with small cargo sections shuttles are also used to transport equipment and materials while in orbit.

The transporter used on Starships such as the Uss Enterprise was first invented in the early 22nd century by Dr. Emory Erickson. This device converts a subject into energy, stores this energy in a memory track or pattern buffer (called dematerialization) then beams that energy to another location and reassembles the subject into its original form. Almost all Starships and Starfleet facilities are now equipped with a transporter device.

Tricorders are designed with state of the art technology and are mainly used by ship personnel on away missions for scanning, computing and data communication between crew, and ship. The tricorder can also be adapted for other specific modes of operation such as science, engineering or medical, as used by the ships doctor to analyze Starfleet personnel.
